The role

Do you want to develop high-grade machines used all over the world, and design bespoke technical solutions customers can rely on for years? As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you work on the development and further development of our vacuum vehicles. You translate technical customer questions into clever, reliable designs and stay involved from concept to realisation.

  • Location: Zestienhovensekade 138, Rotterdam.
  • Contract: Full time (38 hours).
  • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Experience: Senior (10+ years).
  • Salary: €5,000 to €7,000 gross per month.

What you will do

You develop and improve our vacuum solutions and translate technical customer questions into clever, buildable answers. You work on the further development of existing Vacu-Press models and on customer-specific engineering projects.

Your work includes:

  • Designing and engineering Vacu-Press machines in SolidWorks.
  • Working out 3D models, assemblies and production drawings.
  • Running FEM analyses to underpin structural designs.
  • Designing and integrating hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Developing bespoke technical solutions for international customers.
  • Testing designs against PED, EX and ADR and other relevant standards and directives.
  • Working closely with production, service and suppliers to keep designs practical to build.
  • Initiating technical improvements and innovations.

What we ask

We are looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer who gets energy from developing complex machines. You are analytically strong, you think in solutions and you feel at home where engineering, innovation and bespoke work come together.

You will also recognise yourself in the following:

  • Bachelor's or master's level of working and thinking, preferably in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Broad experience (around 10 years) in R&D, machine building or product development.
  • At least 5 years of experience with SolidWorks.
  • Experience with FEM analyses, preferably in SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Experience with the PED, Ex and ADR directives.
  • A good command of Dutch and English.

A plus

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Experience with relevant standards and directives in machine building.
  • Experience in machine building, vehicles, heavy equipment or comparable technical sectors.
